South Korean chipmaker SK hynix Inc. announced on Sunday that it received the Corporate Innovation Award at the 2026 Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) Awards ceremony held on Friday, local time, in New York, the United States. The IEEE is a globally recognized authority in the field of electrical and electronics engineering. Through the IEEE Awards, which have a history of over 100 years, the organization honors individuals and companies that have contributed to technological innovation and social advancement. The awards are divided into three categories – medals, technical field awards, and service awards. The Corporation Innovation Award, established in 1986 as part of the service awards category, is presented to companies that have contributed to industrial and societal development through innovative technologies. This marks the first time SK hynix has received the honor. The award recognizes the company’s achievement in stably mass-producing all generations of high-bandwidth memory (HBM) and contributing to the expansion of the artificial intelligence (AI) computing ecosystem. The company emphasized that it has established itself as a trusted global partner by providing key memory solutions that overcome performance limitations of AI platforms. In particular, its active push in HBM technology innovation and timely response to customer demand were cited as key factors behind the recognition.
