With an effective tool so sharp, I was glad for the thumb lock that is easy to slide open and secure, which is a huge plus for safety. I tested these on at least one hundred long stem roses and greenery that I was prepping for a school PTO event and it handled the job with great ease. I also used them to trim back shrubs in my front yard and cut through branches up to 1/2 inch without needing a second squeeze. As someone with small hands, these felt perfectly sized when closed but I did have a moment of adjustment when they were unlocked for the first time cutting but I easily got used to it. These feel like professional-grade shears, something a florist or avid gardener would use. They cut through my trumpeter vines with ease and made quick work of trimming and cutting them back. The blades are strong and efficient, making pruning much easier. My only downside is that I wish the handle was a bit more adjustable for smaller hands. If you have larger hands, they would likely be more comfortable to use.
