By Jeon Guk-je Samsung Electronics’ “Remote Appliance Diagnosis” service has obtained the “AI Trust Mark” from global certification body Nemko, becoming the first in the Korean industry to receive the recognition. The AI Trust Mark is a certification program that verifies whether products and services using artificial intelligence comply with international ethical guidelines and safety standards. The evaluation examines factors such as data governance, transparency and accuracy of information, and cybersecurity. Samsung Electronics received high marks for its management system designed to protect personal information and ensure service reliability. According to industry sources on March 16, Samsung’s Remote Appliance Diagnosis service monitors appliance conditions remotely and uses AI-based analysis to assist professional customer service representatives in providing diagnostics and consultation. The service is currently available in more than 120 countries worldwide, including South Korea. Nemko, headquartered in Norway, is a global testing and certification organization with a history spanning more than 90 years. The institution manages certification standards across more than 150 countries and has operated the AI Trust Mark program since 2024 to verify the technological transparency and ethical reliability of AI systems. Samsung’s Remote Appliance Diagnosis service utilizes AI to detect early signs of abnormal appliance behavior that may be difficult for users to identify. The service includes features such as predicting refrigerant leaks in air conditioners and refrigerators, detecting subtle refrigerator door openings, and forecasting oil residue buildup on air-conditioner heat exchangers that can reduce heat transfer efficiency and overall cooling performance. Through these capabilities, customers using the Remote Appliance Diagnosis service can proactively manage potential appliance failures and extend product lifespan. In addition, many issues can be resolved remotely, saving both time and service costs.
